ONVIF / RTSP · Windows

Record the screen like it's a security camera.

DeskStreamer turns a POS register, back-office PC, or employee workstation into a standard ONVIF/RTSP camera. Your NVR auto-discovers it like any hardware camera — so on-screen activity is recorded right alongside your physical ones.

  • No NVR plugins — pure ONVIF
  • 14-day free trial
  • Works offline / air-gapped

Capabilities

Everything an NVR expects from a camera — from a desktop.

No agents to integrate, no proprietary recorder. DeskStreamer speaks the same protocols your surveillance stack already uses.

ONVIF auto-discovery

WS-Discovery + ONVIF Device/Media services mean your NVR finds and adds it exactly like a physical IP camera — or add it by IP.

Multi-monitor capture

Stream each display as its own independent camera, or capture a single monitor or region. Every screen recorded, separately addressable.

Hardware-accelerated

H.264 (and experimental H.265) with NVIDIA NVENC, Intel QSV, or AMD AMF when available — automatic CPU fallback keeps a busy till PC responsive.

Main + substream

A full-quality recording stream and a lightweight substream per camera — the dual-stream pattern your VMS already uses for cameras.

Webcam & picture-in-picture

Add the webcam as its own camera, or composite webcam-over-screen (or screen-over-webcam) so you see the operator and the screen in one frame.

NVR-compatible audio

Optional microphone capture encoded as G.711 — the baseline ONVIF audio codec real NVRs decode, not AAC that silently drops.

Offline licensing

Signed, server-free license keys — DeskStreamer activates and runs on locked-down or air-gapped networks. 14-day trial, no account required.

Runs as a service

Install as a Windows service to start at boot and survive logoff — recording continues whether or not anyone's signed in.

Access controls

Configurable ONVIF credentials and an app-level password gate keep a casual passerby from stopping the stream or changing settings.

Deployment

From install to recording in three steps.

  1. 1

    Install on the PC

Run the installer on the Windows machine you want to record. DeskStreamer lives quietly in the system tray, or as a background service.

  2. 2

    Your NVR discovers it

It announces itself over ONVIF/WS-Discovery. Your NVR or VMS finds it on the network and adds it as a camera — by discovery or by IP.

  3. 3

    Record & review

Screen activity records alongside your physical cameras, wall-clock aligned — so you can review what was on the till the moment a transaction happened.

Field of view

Any screen worth watching, on the system you already run.

DeskStreamer isn't tied to a till. Anywhere a screen and a camera should have been watching the same moment, it turns that PC into another feed on your NVR.

Retail & POS

Correlate every transaction on the register screen with the overhead camera. Spot voids, refunds, and no-sales the camera alone can't explain.

Finance & back office

Keep an audit trail of what happened on sensitive workstations — cash counts, accounting, inventory adjustments — in the same system as your cameras.

Healthcare & clinics

Record nurse-station and lab-terminal screens alongside the hallway or ward camera feed your NVR already watches.

Manufacturing & industrial

Capture operator terminals and control-panel screens on the plant floor, so an incident or a misconfigured step leaves a clear on-screen record.

Logistics & warehousing

Watch dispatch and inventory-system screens next to your dock and warehouse cameras — reconcile what the scanner showed with what the camera saw.

Government & education

Record service-counter, kiosk, or lab/exam-terminal screens for windows and rooms already covered by your surveillance system.
