Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Vivtron (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with the DeskStreamer website at www.deskstreamer.com (the “Site”) and the DeskStreamer software application (the “Software”). It applies to visitors of the Site and to customers who download, trial, or license the Software.

01Summary

DeskStreamer is designed to keep your data on your own infrastructure. The Software runs on a computer you control and publishes its streams to your own NVR/VMS over your own network. We do not receive, store, or have access to the screens, video, or audio that DeskStreamer captures. Licensing is performed offline. With its default settings the Software does not “phone home.” The one exception is Remote View, an optional add-on that is off by default and only contacts our infrastructure if you deliberately enable it — see section 04. The Site itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

02Information from the Site

The Site is a static website hosted by Vercel. We do not run advertising trackers or set analytics cookies. The following limited data may be processed:

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically processes technical request data — such as IP address, browser user-agent, and the pages requested — for security, abuse-prevention, and delivery of the Site.
  • Web fonts. The Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those font files.
  • Email you send us. If you contact contact@deskstreamer.com, we process the information in your message (e.g. your name, email address, and the content) to respond.

03The Software & your recordings

When you run DeskStreamer, it captures the screen(s), and optionally a webcam and microphone, of the machine it is installed on, and makes them available as ONVIF/RTSP streams on your network for your NVR/VMS to record.

  • The resulting video, audio, and screen content stay entirely within your own environment. They are transmitted to the destination(s) you configure and are never sent to Vivtron.
  • License activation uses offline, cryptographically-signed keys. There is no license server and no usage telemetry transmitted to us by the Software.
  • You are the controller of any personal data contained in recordings you make with the Software. Captured screens may include personal or sensitive information — including, on a payment terminal, cardholder data. You are responsible for deploying the Software lawfully: providing any required notices, obtaining any required consents, restricting access, and setting retention in line with your obligations (for example, PCI-DSS, and applicable privacy and surveillance laws).

04Remote View (optional add-on)

Remote View is an optional, opt-in feature that is disabled by default. It lets you view a DeskStreamer camera on a paired mobile phone from outside your local network. If you never enable it, nothing in this section applies and the Software does not contact our infrastructure at all. If you do enable it, the following applies only to that feature:

  • What we operate. Remote View relies on two services we run: a pairing/signaling coordinator (which helps your phone and your desktop find and connect to each other), and, as a fallback, a relay server used only when a direct connection cannot be established (for example on some mobile-carrier networks).
  • Device IDs & pairing. When you enable Remote View, each published camera is assigned a Device ID and registers it with the coordinator so your phone can pair with it. Pairing is done by scanning a QR code containing a one-time secret. The coordinator stores the Device IDs, and hashed pairing/authorization records, needed to route connections between your own devices. You can unpair a phone at any time.
  • Your video is peer-to-peer and encrypted. The live video and audio are sent directly between your desktop and your phone using WebRTC, encrypted in transit (DTLS-SRTP). The coordinator exchanges only the technical connection-setup messages (“signaling”) — it does not carry, decrypt, or record your video or audio.
  • The fallback relay. For the minority of connections where a direct link cannot be established, the encrypted stream is passed through our relay server, which runs on a third-party cloud host acting as our processor. The relay forwards the already-encrypted stream and does not decrypt, store, or record it.
  • We still do not keep your recordings. In every case, Vivtron does not receive, store, or have access to the screen, video, or audio content itself. We process only the Device IDs and connection metadata required to operate the service.

05Sales & licensing data

If you request a quote, purchase a license, or open a support request, we process the details you provide — such as name, business name, email address, and the contents of your correspondence — to fulfil and support your order. Where a purchase involves payment, payment details are handled by the relevant payment provider, not stored by the Site.

06How we use information

  • To operate, secure, and improve the Site;
  • To respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
  • To issue and validate license keys and fulfil orders;
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

07Sharing & processors

We do not sell personal information. We share limited data only with service providers who help us run our business, under appropriate terms — for example our hosting provider (Vercel), our email provider, and, where you enable Remote View, the cloud host on which our fallback relay server runs (see section 04). We may disclose information where required by law.

08Retention

We keep correspondence and sales/licensing records only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

09Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to it. To exercise any of these, contact us at contact@deskstreamer.com. Note that recordings made with the Software are held by you, not us — requests relating to those should be directed to the organisation operating the Software.

10Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site or Software after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
